Native integrations (using platform's official API): faster, more reliable, lower cost long-term. Zapier (middleware): slower setup, lower cost upfront, less flexible. Native for critical flows (payment ? accounting). Zapier for one-off flows (new social post ? Slack notification). Hybrid approach is common."

Simple integration (two systems, one data flow): 1-2 weeks. Complex integration (5+ systems, multi-directional data, error handling): 6-12 weeks. Depends on API maturity (older APIs harder to work with) and data mapping complexity."

Scrape the platform (program reads the web interface, extracts data) or use email integration (platform sends CSV, system imports). Less elegant but possible. Scraping is fragile (if platform changes UI, scraping breaks). Better: push platform owner to provide API or switch to API-first platform."

Build in staging environment (test systems, not production). Create test data (fake customer record). Run integration, verify data appears correctly in both systems. Test error scenarios (what if API times out?). Test with real data sample before full rollout.
